Summary
Meet the criteria to register to vote in Connecticut.
- U.S. citizen and a resident of Connecticut. Convicted felons serving time or on parole are not eligible.
- Complete the voter’s registration form in person and show your ID at the local town hall. Residents may register at age 17, vote at age 18.
- Print and complete the online State of Connecticut Mail-In Voter Registration form, and mail it to the local Registrar of Voters in your town.
- Verify identity. If an application to vote is approved, but the resident has not verified their identity yet, they must show valid ID when voting for the first time.
- Register in person at least seven days before an election or by the last business day before a primary. If registering by mail, the application must be postmarked five days before a primary or 14 days before an election.
- Voter confirmation will arrive by mail within three weeks.
