Polls must be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for state elections. Sample ballots and instructions are posted at the polls on election day. When you enter the polling place give your address and name to the election official at the check-in table. If your name is not on the voters list read on to the next question for instructions. If you registered to vote before January 1, 2003, you don't have to show identification. If you registered to vote by mail on or after January 1, 2003, you will be required to show identification when you vote for the first time in a federal election since registering by mail in 2003 if you have not sent in a copy of your identification with your mail-in voter registration form.
Acceptable identification must include your name and the address at which you are registered to vote, for example: a current and valid driver’s license, photo identification, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document showing your name and address.
Deadlines- Deadline to register to vote in November 2008 election: 20 days before all primaries and elections
- Deadline to register for absentee ballot in November 2008 election: The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is noon of the day before the election

Three types of voting machines, manufactured byHart InterCivic, that will be used are the AccuVote TSx with a voter verifiable paper audit trail, the AutoMARK voter assist terminal, and e-Slate with voter verifiable paper audit trail.
